Empart focuses primarily on South Asia because this area has the highest proportion of people in the world to have never heard the gospel. South Asia is of huge strategic importance given its access to surrounding nations which are largely closed to western outreach.
It is estimated that several hundred million people in Asia have never heard the name of Jesus. These people are in great religious confusion with millions of gods and countless cults.
Today, persecution of Christians in Asia is an everyday experience. Some areas have adopted anti-conversion laws, and extremist groups are consistently lashing out violently towards Christians. Despite these harsh realities, Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted, to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom to the captives, and to comfort those who mourn.” (Isaiah 61)
This scripture is a source of inspiration for all of our Empart workers. In following Jesus, we bring good news to those who are in need by helping them spiritually, socially and practically. This holistic approach is facilitated through local communities and designed to benefit whole people groups regardless of caste or religion. In doing so, we keep people’s greatest need, the gospel of Jesus Christ, at the centre of everything
