Our Father is More Than Able
STORIES FROM THE FIELD
Sushma* grew up in a typical village family. However, her father suffered from oppression and was terribly tormented for many years. The family did everything they could to help him and for his healing but were unsuccessful.
An Empart worker visited her family and gradually the power of the God’s word set them free and they all accepted the Truth. Sushma’s father decided to attend a one-year training program at an Empart Transformation Centre. When he graduated he returned to his home community to begin an outreach.
Sushma also felt that she had a calling for service on her life and prayed for opportunities and doors to open to serve. In 2013 she was able to join an Empart Women’s Training Centre. After graduation, she continued at the Centre as a mentor for young girls. However, within the year there was a tragedy in their family her father had a serious accident that left him bedridden. Sushma decided to go back home to continue the work her father started.
A new responsibility of taking care of the sheep……
Because her father was bedridden, Sushma took over his work, teaching, praying for the needy and regularly visiting villagers. There were only a few members in their fellowship at that time and Sushma began to pray for the Lord to expand the work in her village.
Sushma found the your girls were very interested and hungry to learn. Many girls made decisions to follow the Lord. Also over time a number of families came to know God and the community began to grow. Sushma had opposition from some of the villagers, but she felt that God gave her wisdom and direction to deal with these situations.
Sushma encouraged the young girls in their spiritual growth and helped them to share the good news with others. As a result, many girl’s lives are wonderfully changed. Some now travel with Sushma on bicycles going out to serve their community and village. Others have attended an Empart Women’s Training Centre for further study. Today, God has raised up 20 Empart social workers, working in different communities, who are under Sushma’s leadership.
The Father is doing great things through Sushma and many are drawing near to God.
