A Life with Purpose
STORIES FROM THE FIELD
As a result of the good work of the Empart Key Women people are seeing remarkable transformation in the lives of rural villagers.
Rekha* did not grow up in a stable home. She and her siblings witnessed their parents fighting on a daily basis. As they grew up, they started fighting with each other as well over minor issues. There was no unity and peace in the household and the family did not find any hope in their traditional faith.
Then Rekha’s grandmother heard about God and became convinced that He was the only one who could help the family. The grandmother started to share stories with Rekha and the other grandchildren, but the parents were very opposed and ignored her.
Rekha’s grandmother did not lose hope, she continued praying and eventually Rekha’s mother attended an Empart meeting. The Empart social worker would visit their home and shared God’s message of hope, and eventually the entire family accepted God into their lives. It was such a transformation.
A new calling
The truth and the power of the Word touched Rekha deeply and she was hungry to learn more. Rekha joined an Empart Transformation Centre and has now graduated and is working in her home village. “It is not easy for young women to go into the streets and share the good news. But I trust God and find strength in Him daily.” says Rekha
She has many stories of how God is opening doors and one of them is of a villager named Mukesh*. He had two surgeries to remove growths from his body. During the second surgery, the doctors had to remove bone and tissue around his larynx. After surgery he was unable to speak, eat and breathe normally. He felt helpless and was fearful.
After hearing about Rekha from other villages, Mukesh and his family decided to meet her. She shared a story about healing and prayed for Mukesh, and he was healed and is now able to speak normally. He says, “Since then, I am able to sing, shout, and eat. I am sharing my story with others. Thank you, Father God.”
“God is showing his love to Asia and I am happy to be part of all that He is doing,” says Rekha.
